Intelligent forward thinking Metal...Hovers between tech-metal intricacies and The Mars Volta inflected dynamism

- Metal Hammer Magazine

Against the tide of ultra low tunings and borderline double digit guitar strings, Core of iO deliver a unique brand of Heavy Rock that leans on elements of Mathcore, Progressive and Tech Metal.

Grunge infused vocals, relentless drums, intricate guitar work and hyperactive bass fuses to form a sound that is “dynamic, intelligent and dripping with hooks”. Common influences and comparisons made include The Mars Volta, Fall of Troy and Sikth.

The Sussex based quartet formed through friendships formed at university with a common goal to create music that is both challenging and enjoyable to listen to. Core of iO have maintained a solid line up since forming in 2012 which has allowed them to refine and develop their craft with a tongue in cheek nod to the bands that inspired them.

Fun and energetic live performances as well a fresh approach to making music has seen them play festival slots at UK Tech Fest and Mammothfest, as well as some some high profile support slots with the likes of Thank You Scientist, Black Peaks and Rosetta

The band embarked on a series of 4 E.P releases and tours (starting with Part IV) in 2014, and have so far received airplay on BBC South, Kerrang Radio as well as making it onto cover CD’s of Metal Hammer magazine to very positive reception.

With a renewed focus on continuing their collective drive to develop both musically and technically, their upcoming release “Part I : iO” builds on all of the best components of previous releases and packs the biggest punch yet for an exciting finale to the series named after the Galilean moons of Jupiter. Release date 8th September 2023

Core of iO are on tour Autumn 2023.
